Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Curiosity Harbor (“Curiosity Harbor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit curiosityharbor.org (the “Site”) and use its features, including our resource library, grant and funding directory, contact and newsletter forms, and the “Ask Curiosity Harbor” assistant.
The Site is operated by Curiosity Harbor LLC, a Utah limited liability company. “Curiosity Harbor Foundation” is the name of our nonprofit initiative; our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt application is in progress.
Who this Site is for
The Site is intended for parents, guardians, educators, and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See “Children's Privacy” below.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Newsletter signups: your email address and, optionally, your first name.
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message.
- Volunteer interest: your name, email, areas of interest, and any notes you add.
- Assistant questions: the text of questions you submit to the “Ask Curiosity Harbor” assistant.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server and security logs (such as IP address, browser/user-agent, and timestamps), processed by our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare.
- If anti-abuse verification is enabled, a Cloudflare Turnstile token used only to confirm a request is human.
- We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this Site.
How we use information
- To operate the Site and provide the resources, directory, and assistant you request.
- To respond to your messages and volunteer inquiries.
- To send updates you have asked to receive; you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Site and prevent abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, which content is useful and improve it.
The “Ask Curiosity Harbor” assistant
When you ask the assistant a question, your question is processed using Cloudflare Workers AI to generate an answer from our curated database of homeschool requirements, funding programs, and resources. We may review questions in aggregate to improve answer quality. Please do not submit sensitive personal information (for example, government identifiers, financial account numbers, or health information) to the assistant. The assistant provides general information, not legal, financial, or educational advice.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Site, and only as needed to provide their service:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, the AI assistant (Workers AI), and anti-abuse verification (Turnstile).
- Neon — the managed PostgreSQL database that stores form submissions and content.
- Slack and Linear — used internally to route and track contact-form messages so our team can respond.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Curiosity Harbor, our users, or others.
Data retention
We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and contact and volunteer messages for as long as needed to respond and keep reasonable records. We retain security logs for a limited period consistent with our providers' practices.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe: every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us.
- Access or deletion: you may request a copy or deletion of the personal information we hold about you.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state or country's privacy laws. We honor applicable rights — contact us to exercise them.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
